I have a special treat for you today! I have invited my very own counselor, Carrie Ryberg, to come on the show today and explain a type of emotional therapy called Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR for short.
That’s a mouthful to explain a relatively simple way of helping your brain reprocess painful memories. I have experienced first-hand the effectiveness of this type of therapy but I’m not always able to adequately explain it to others. So I invited the expert on to tell you why it works and how it can help you overcome trauma.
Carrie Ryberg is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in IL with nearly a decade of experience counseling adults, adolescents, and couples on a variety of areas. She has particular interest and experience working with trauma survivors. As a Christian, Carrie is equipped to work through the spiritual aspects of counseling as well.
Here are some highlights from the episode:
I waited way too long to ask for help and wasted years in the waiting. If you need extra support working through a painful past experience, I beg you not to wait any longer. It’s not worth it. We all need help sometimes. It’s a show of strength and resiliency to ask for it.
Note: The time stamps are slightly different from the audio only version.
